Here is another unique photography project by Seth Casteel. This time he is capturing of underwater babies for The New York Times. Project is called ‘Little Nemos,’. In article Times explains that the images are of more than just an usual swim lesson. These photos are showing a self-rescue technique that babies can learn in order to save themselves from drowning. As soon as they are under water, they hold their breath underwater, kick their feet, turn over to float on their backs and rest until help arrives. Like a miracle.
The idea is simple and yet completely original. The execution, however, is where things get complex. Casteel’s work requires patience, precision, and a keen understanding of his tiny subjects. Each snapshot uncovers the raw, instinctive relationship between babies and water, unveiling a world of exploration and curiosity.
